AT&T Interactive and TED Introduce Official Mobile App for TED2010
Glendale, California, New York, New York | Monday, February 08, 2010
AT&T Interactive and TED today announced the availability of the official TED2010 Mobile Conference app. Developed on AT&T Interactive’s Plusmo application development platform, the mobile app offers access to conference information leading up to the event on Feb. 9-13 in Long Beach, Calif. The TED2010 Mobile conference app is available for registered attendees via the mobile web or for download on select major mobile platforms.
"We view the tool that AT&T has created as a great addition to TED2010. The mobile app will enhance the conference experience for TEDsters by making our program guide portable and easy to update; for the first time, we'll be able to push changes to our busy schedule in real time - " said Ronda Carnegie, Global Partnerships Director for TED.
TEDsters are encouraged to use the mobile app to plan their TED experience – with access to the TED2010 program, session details, presenter bios and other event activities. Real-time alerts on TED news and conversations posted to the official ‘TED Blog’ tab make it easy to stay connected with the latest happenings at the show. The ‘TEDActive’ tab offers a way to get information on impromptu ‘meet-ups’ between other TEDsters attending TEDActive in Palm Springs.
“The TED2010 Mobile conference app illustrates the opportunity for publishers to connect people with information and ideas across a broad range of devices,” said Krishna Vedati, SVP-GM of Mobile at AT&T Interactive. “Our collaboration with TED to provide conference information in real time reflects TED’s innovative spirit. The ability to create one app and make it available across multiple platforms is part of AT&T Interactive’s commitment to help simplify content delivery within the mobile ecosystem.”
The official TED2010 Mobile conference app is the first event-focused application developed on the Plusmo platform. Acquired in Sept. 2009, the Plusmo platform enables AT&T Interactive to reduce development time and costs by creating widgets and applications using common web development standards that enable easy deployment across multiple mobile operating systems and devices. Leading carriers, handset manufacturers, and well known publishers have also used Plusmo technology for mobile development.
